Goodson Associates was formed in Edinburgh on 1 November 1993 .
Since then, the company has expanded and now has three strategically placed offices nationwide that are highly focused on the core business of Civil and Structural Engineering Design plus a fourth office, in Edinburgh, dealing with transportation matters.
Goodson Associates have built a reputation for delivering a first class service on all commissions covering project values from £1,000 to £35 million.
Goodson Associates is a limited company wholly owned by share holding Directors who are all actively involved with managing projects and committed to developing the company.
Part of the company's success lies with our ability to meet the changing demands of Clients while maintaining a quality service from feasibility through to contract completion.
We employ an “umbrella” approach to our core services and sub-consultant work. We can provide the client with a number of specialist services from ground investigation works to transportation issues covered by a single warranty from Goodson Associates.
In particular we are able to provide a fully comprehensive Ground Investigation Service that covers desk-top studies, the drilling and the physical on-site works, soil testing (including Chemical Analysis), and both Factual and Interpretative Reports. These services can then be integrated into the foundation and structural design. The whole investigation and design service would then be covered by our PI insurance as a single item giving the “umbrella” protection.
Transportation design can also be included under the protection of the single point of responsibility through our Traffic and Transportation Company, Goodson Cole Transportation. We have similar partnering arrangements with hydrological engineers, topographical surveyors and acoustic allowing us to provide a Total Engineering Solution for our clients.
Goodson
Cole Transportation (GCT) was formed in 1999 and is the specialist arm
of Goodson Associates offering a full range of transportation consultancy
services from project conception right through to construction and implementation.
The firm possesses a wealth of experience in the fields of Transport Assessment,
Transport Planning and Road Infrastructure design. Since inception we
have undertaken a wide range of projects for both private and public sector
clients. From large-scale multi-use schemes to individual developments
we have assisted developers in obtaining Planning Consent and Road Construction
Consent as well as undertaking the design of improvement schemes and transport
solutions. Our range of services includes:-
Masterplanning Advice
It
is at the initial planning stage of a project that fundamental decisions
are made regarding site layout, traffic circulation and internal linkages.
GCT can offer advice at the outset to ensure that time consuming and potentially
expensive mistakes are avoided.
Transportation Assessments
GCT undertakes Transportation Assessments for all types of development, from single use sites right through to large retail and business parks. With national policy putting increasing emphasis on sustainable development, GCT has successfully prepared a number of Green Travel Plans as part of recent planning applications.
Infrastructure Design
Whatever
the infrastructure requirements, from a simple T junction through to complex
road layouts, GCT can undertake all stages of the design. The company
uses the latest computer design software, including AutoCAD and the MX
3D highway design package.
Walton Garden & Partners was formed 1 March 1980 and in the Spring 2003 was incorporated into Walton Garden Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Goodson Associates, Consulting Civil & Structural Engineers.
We are experienced in a wide variety of building projects with expertise in the design and refurbishment of residential premises from individual commissions to multi-storey flatted developments.
We are renowned for our proactive and innovative approach to design. Our close collaboration with Clients, Architects and other members of the Design Team allow us to deliver innovative, practical and value engineered solutions. By embracing new technologies coupled with our extensive experience we have the ability to tackle all aspects of project realisation from inception through to project completion.
We utilise the latest versions of design and drafting software. This allows us to produce structural models of each project to provide the most efficient solutions. Our track record proves that the use of the modelling together with our drafting software ensures the efficient transmission of information and coordination between disciplines.
